C.O.P.E. Weekends

What Is COPE?

C.O.P.E., which stands for Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience, is a highly engaging program designed to help Scouts develop essential skills in teamwork, communication, trust, leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making. Through a variety of initiative games, low-course challenges, and high-course elements, participants learn to rely on themselves and each other while pushing beyond their comfort zones.

The program is built around experiential learning. Scouts actively participate in challenges and then reflect on how their actions, decisions, and teamwork strategies can be applied both within Scouting and in everyday life. COPE offers a safe, structured environment where Scouts can grow personally and strengthen their troop dynamics.

Event Overview

Turn your Scouts into a stronger, more connected team through an unforgettable outdoor adventure. During this COPE weekend, Scouts will climb, balance, problem-solve, and work together as they move through a progression of physical and mental challenges. Each activity is designed to help participants build confidence, trust, and leadership skills while having fun in the outdoors.

This program encourages Scouts to reach new heights—both figuratively and literally—by facing obstacles that promote resilience and effective teamwork.

Lodging and Food

Participants will camp at Camp Rockefeller, located within the Gus Blass Scout Reservation. Campsites offer a classic outdoor camping experience, and units should bring their usual camping gear unless otherwise instructed.

Meals will be provided throughout the weekend. Food service is included in the event cost, ensuring Scouts stay energized and ready for each day’s activities.
